Our first Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Blackthorn's Captain Lightfoot was born
in 1972. Captain was our introduction to this wonderful breed, and what an education it was! He had an impish sense of humor,
a grin that wouldn't quit and a delight in life that we shall ever miss. He lived to be 17 with a spirit admired by all.

Our foundation bitch, Dovenby Scrimshaw, was a joy. She ruled our house
from the first day, until her untimely death at the age of five. She is a Dam of Distinction with eleven champion offspring,
four by our Captain Lightfoot, and seven by the great CH Boreham Bonanza, from only three litters. Bred by James W. Smith,
Dovenby, she was bred to produce, and she certainly did.
